The NASCAR Nationwide Series kicks off this great racing weekend this afternoon at the Charlotte Motor Speedway as they beat and bang for 300 miles in the History 300. This is a home track for most of the NASCAR Nationwide Series teams and drivers so this gives you a little bragging rights in the Charlotte area if you can pull out the victory. With this being a home track there is a little bit of some added pressure to perform a little better here at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. comes into this weekend with the points lead, he won last weekends Nationwide race at the Iowa Speedway. Stenhouse Jr. has a 34 point lead over second place Elliott Sadler, Sadler was docked points this week by NASCAR for failing post race inspection at Iowa. (His car was too low and did not meet the minimum height after the race.)
Roush Fenway Racing swept the events at the Charlotte Motor Speedway last year as Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards took them to victory lane, both will not be in today’s event. Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Kasey Kahne, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, and Denny Hamlin will be the cup regulars that are participating in this Nationwide race.
